ABOUT

Amanda is a marriage & life coach for ambitious women who are passionate about living their best life! I coach women in identifying what their desired core values and purpose are in order to align a career with those doing meaningful work so that they can feel completely authentic, confident, empowered, and full of joy in how they are living their lives!

Hours & Location

I facilitate all of my coaching sessions out of St. Paul, MN. Life Design Coaching packages are available in person if you are based in Minnesota or via Zoom. I work with clients located throughout the world and am happy to find a time to accommodate us both.

One thing that is really important to me is to prioritize time together with my husband especially before baby boy Weber arrives. Thankfully Kurt also values making time for our relationship and to grow together a priority.

It's so easy to let the stress, the schedules, and the daily routine get in the way of creating real connection in a marriage.

We are loving this time together up north in the woods and by the lake with no agenda.
So far we have:
- Gone on walks exploring
- Played games (Checkers, chess, FRIENDS trivia)
- Taken naps
- Walked by the lake
- Coffee runs
- Dinner dates
- Church
- Watched a movie
- Got time to read & journal
Plus so much more!

It's these little moments away which can rejuvenate the heart, mind, and soul ❤

These are the little everyday moments I love.
These are the moments that I remember dreaming of and putting on my vision board years ago.

Dreaming about our future and all the big & small things we want to experience together is one of my favorite things to do with Kurt.

Sometimes it’s easy to judge our dreams. We have this idea that our dreams need to be big and grand. Or we judge ourselves for having dreams that seem too “insignificant” or not “enough”.

One thing I have been playing around with is “AND” instead of “OR”. Who says you can’t have small dreams, dreams of enjoying everyday moments, “AND” dreams much bigger then where you are today?
There is space for it all.

You can want something “AND” not want it all at the same time. You can be feeling full of love “AND” feel doubt. You can be joyful “AND” sad about what is changing.

You are allowed to feel all the feelings. You can choose to allow and feel whatever is coming up for you without judging yourself for it.

A lesson I’ve been learning on a deeper level than ever before over the last 2 months is acceptance. I’ve been witnessing what I am judging about myself, my feelings, my life, “AND” accepting what the deeper desire is behind the judgement. I’ve been learning to accept the parts of me that I have been judging. When we judge something about ourselves, we get stuck with that judgement we have. I have been telling my coaching clients for years, “What we resist, persists.”

It's about befriending the judgement. It’s accepting that the judgement is there and noticing the good in it and the intention behind it. How is this judgement really trying to serve me? How can I become friends with this judgement?

Whatever we judge about who we are doesn’t have to be labeled as “good” or “bad”. We can look instead at a more effective way, a more aligned way to see ourselves and to create what it is we want in our life. We can choose to accept these parts of us when they show up and chose to move forward in a way that is aligned in the truth of who we are (AKA based on our core values)... continued in comments

There was a time of my life that I still remember clear as day.

It was over 13 years ago now.

I was walking into one of my appointments with the first counselor that I had ever seen. I would always get nervous before those appointments because it was still all so unfamiliar to me. I didn’t know what to expect each time or how the appointment would go.
That particular session was the session that I was diagnosed with mild depression.

I remember my young adult self had a flood of emotions run over me. That version of me 13 years ago felt relief in the moment. I thought, “Oh good, now I finally know what’s been wrong with me.” Then instantly after that thought, I immediately felt a sense of shame and embarrassment. I made a promise to myself walking out of that appointment and down the hall that I would never tell anyone that I had just been diagnosed with mild depression.🤐

Fast forward to 6 years ago. I again found myself in a new therapist’s office because things were feeling so “off”. After spending time with that therapist, I had been diagnosed with social anxiety. I thought to myself, “So this is what anxiety really feels like?”

Before I had experienced anxiety first hand, I didn’t understand exactly how it worked. I didn’t get it when I would have friends share that they had anxiety. I wanted to understand it from their perspective, but I just couldn’t quite get it – until I had experienced it firsthand.

I still remember when I would have days that I would cancel on my friends last minute over and over again. I remember having a hard time being around my big loving family. I remember not showing up for important events in the lives of the people I love because I couldn’t handle being around the people and yet felt so lonely being by myself. The amount of pep talks I tried to say to myself to get myself out of my home to see people were too many to count. There were only a few key people that felt “safe” to me at that time in my life.

My experiences in the past with mild depression and anxiety taught me a lot. There was a lot that (finished in the comments)

Take the time to regularly meet with your husband about your finances so that you are on the same page. Talk about finance goals and boundaries and encourage each other with finances regularly to reduce the stress finances cause in marriage.
