TAKE ME TO THE LAKE
It’s that time of the year where everyone is buzzin around and talking about all their plans of going to the lake, the beach house, the summer vacation. Etc.
I’m the exact same way! I’ve got the lake waters on my mind and my packing list running through my head
since last week because I’m going to the lake this weekend! This is an annual trip for my family to go up north a few hours to hang out, relax, and enjoy time with family laughing endlessly and making all sorts of memories.
Do you want to know what I really love about going to the lake though?
I get to see my family who I adore? You Bet. However, the other piece that I crave about my lake time is getting a complete refresh from the world. You see, for me going to the lake is all about relaxing, but what I really enjoy is my ZERO CELL PHONE SERVICE in the woods. I don’t have any communication to the outside world besides those who I am spending time with soaking up the sunny rays.
Why is this NO cell phone reception so important to me?
It gives me the time to be fully present in my life by not being distracted by things that truly aren’t that important to me. It helps me take time to reconnect with myself and think about where I am in my life and where I want to go. It gives me the opportunity to notice and fully appreciate
the little things like the waves in the water, the sunrise, the sparkling of the campfire flames, and the smiles and laughter of those around me. That’s what I love! And to top it all off, I come back from the lake completely refreshed and excited about the next 6 months of the year.
Do you get a similar feeling when you go to the lake or when you go on vacation? My challenge for you is to find 2-3 days this summer where you take a trip or a staycation where you leave your cell phone completely off (unless you need it for music making & camera memory catching. 😀 ).
BONUS 1: I’m all about being organized when I go to the lake or any of my other trips and I have my go to packing list which saves me SO much time when I start packing and it helps me remember to pack everything. Honestly, this little list has been a game changer in my life from weekend trips to long get a ways. I’ve included a blank template for you to download below! Enjoy!
BONUS 2: I’ve also shared my 15 MUST HAVES to pack for your next lake trip. You can pick that up below as well!
And if you need a theme song to get you ready for your next lake get away to refresh, relax, and refocus, I’ll let you borrow my favorite one here: Eric Church – Livin Part of Life

I love the idea of leaving your phone behind to stay more connected to the people around you! I need to start doing this…especially as a blogger I feel like I am always tied to my tech.
Hey Haley! I have to say leaving my phone off is the best thing I started doing when I’m at the lake. It’s so refreshing to just BE with everyone and in nature. I strongly encourage you to try it. AND let me know how it goes for you! I would love to hear all about it! XO
I love going to the lake, even if it’s just for an afternoon! But I haven’t really tried to completely unplug. Even when we go camping I usually check my emails, but other than that I try to stay off my phone.
Yes! Lake time is one of my favorite ways to reconnect to the people around me and nature. What do you love most about going to the lake?
